Richard Hwang, MD

Dr. Richard Hwang, MD, was born in Taiwan and immigrated to the US when he was very young. He has a wife, Shannon, and two daughters, Megan and Emma. When he is not operating, he enjoys spending time with family, playing board games, golf, and piano. He loves to travel and learn about new cultures. Currently, he is learning Spanish and Japanese. He is fluent in English and Mandarin.

For Medical School, he attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham then went on to complete his surgical residency at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Hwang’s personal philosophy is to always treat others as you would want to be treated. He strives to carry this philosophy over to his medical philosophy. Dr. Hwang believes that listening to his patients is always the most important part of medicine. Listening ensures he knows the patients goals so they can work towards them together.
