Graduated Fellowship Spotlight

Fellowship Spotlight – Dr. Carlos Rueda

“It was faith that led me to Sono Bello. In a difficult time of my life where I was looking to change my career path.  I was working as a vascular surgeon, and although I still enjoyed patient care and vascular surgeries, I was clearly burned out from call and administration.  It was a difficult decision because I gave up what I knew and what I was comfortable doing.

Once I arrived at Sono Bello in Denver, Dr. Morton and his team welcomed me and I began to learn the art of aesthetic surgery.  Initially, I was overwhelmed with the amount of information and new skills I had to learn, but I remembered back to my training as a resident and fellow in surgery, this helped regain some of my confidence in learning the new information and skills that I was presented.  Today, I feel well prepared to do aesthetic surgery at Sono Bello and I am very fortunate to work in the same center as my mentor, Dr. Morton.  I know I will be supported by him and the staff.  I look forward to a long career helping patients look and feel better about themselves.  I also look forward to continuing learning and improving my skills as an aesthetic surgeon at Sono Bello.”

Fellowship Spotlight – Dr. Charles Hill
“I have been practicing general and bariatric surgery for nearly a decade prior to joining Sono Bello. Even during that short time, I have witnessed the healthcare landscape change considerably. The time and effort dedicated toward administrative and regulatory duties particularly associated with larger healthcare systems continues to grow. This limits the time available to spend with patients and operating which is where we as surgeons can make the biggest difference. This left me feeling undervalued and underutilized. Sono Bello understands and appreciates the value each of us brings and leverages that value so that we can make a bigger impact in our patient’s lives.

The Sono Bello Aesthetic Fellowship provides an extensive training by some of the most experienced and talented surgeons in the field. The attention to detail and commitment to quality not only during fellowship but also during normal operation is staggering particularly for a "non-academic" enterprise. This approach optimizes cosmetic outcomes leaving patients transformed, physically and psychologically.”

Fellowship Spotlight – Dr. Hyun Kim
“After practicing general surgery for over 30 years, the last 16 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in rural Minnesota, along with the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, I was mentally ready to retire. Yet I still enjoyed many aspects of surgery. As I was pondering my future, I came across a unique company, Sono Bello, leaders in art of body contouring. Today, I am so thankful for Sono Bello offering me the opportunity to learn a new skill while allowing me to incorporate years of surgical experience. After completing a challenging, but thorough fellowship program and interacting with an outstanding administrative team, I have been re-invigorated to start a new chapter of my surgical career. These days, I am grateful to provide a service that benefits the lives of patients by enhancing their appearance and improving their image of self-worth.”

Fellowship Spotlight – Dr. Matthew Alter
After practicing General surgery and then Acute Care and Trauma surgery, I felt that it was time for a change. The rigors of the General Surgery Lifestyle were taking their toll on me. 24 yrs of nights, holidays, and weekends, I felt it was time for a change. The Sono Bello Fellowship Opportunity arose, and I felt that it was the right fit for the lifestyle and career change that I needed. After graduating from the Fellowship, I felt that I was extremely well trained to perform the needed procedures with efficiency, skill, and technical abilities necessary to meet our patient's needs while achieving the work-life balance needed.
